Laser Hair Removal
Hair Removal
What is laser hair removal?
Laser Hair Removal is a gentle pulsed light treatment that can be used on the surface of the skin. It is non-invasive and fast. Several hairs are treated with each pulse but it does not penetrate the skin like other hair removal services. The light targets the melanin in the hair follicle causing thermal damage to the growth cells without harming the skin. With each treatment, the number and size of hair follicles is reduced.
Who can be treated with Laser?
The laser hair removal procedure can be performed on all skin types. For darker skin tones, it is recommended to perform a skin test, which is included in the free consultation.
What does the Treatment Include?
Prior to the Laser Hair Removal procedure, the hair in the treatment area is trimmed down to the skin and a thin layer of a Plume Barrier Lotion is applied to prevent any hair from sticking to the light output window of the treatment hair piece. The technician then uses the IPL machine to gently pulse the light on the skin & surface.
What is expected after the Treatment?
The treated area may become slightly pink for a few hours. Hair follicles in the skin will be red and slightly swollen. The procedure does not impair or cause any discomfort afterward. In the following two weeks, hair gradually sheds.
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure depends on the area that is being treated. Usually, an underarm treatment takes about 10 minutes while a pair of legs takes 45 minutes. Depending on your skin type and area to be treated, 2 to 10 treatments may be necessary.
IPL
What is IPL?
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) utilized optical filters to generate certain wavelengths of light for treatment of specific targets such as hair, veins, pigmented lesions, and collagen. Each hand piece has a different filter in it to generate a different band of wavelengths. Lasers cannot change wavelengths and you usually need a different laser for a different target.
IPL is an alternative to mainstream lasers. Unlike IPLs, Lasers cannot change wavelengths - which means that you need a different laser for a different target. This is not the case with the Novalis Clareon IPL machine. Our office uses 4 different hand pieces available, allowing it to easily be capable of doing work of 4 different lasers! It can be used for the following procedures: hair removal, skin rejuvenation, photofacial, age spot and sun damage removal, rosacea and facial veins treatment, acne removal, and skin tightening.
Photofacial
What is a Photofacial?
Photofacials are used to remove facial veins, as well as freckles, age spots, mattled pigmentation or other excessive skin discoloration from sun damage. It is also used to smooth and tighten your skin, and lessen fine lines.
Who can be treated?
This procedure can be performed on all skin types. For darker skin tones, it is recommended to perform a skin test, which is included in the free consultation.
A Photofacial is a non-ablative procedure. It does not remove nor damage the skin. The pulsed light targets and destroyds wanted blood vessels and pigmented discolorations without harming normal skin. It also restores homogenous skin color and stimulates fiberblasts to produce collagen which plumps the skin and creates smoother skin.
What is expected after the Treatment?
Like most laser procedures, the treated area will feel like a mild sunburn for a few hours. Age spots, freckles, and sun spots will get darker after treatment and flake off in 3 to 10 days. Blood vessels may disappear immediately after treatment or in a few days. Skin smoothing and fine line reduction will become visible nine to twelve weeks after the third treatment because collagen is produced slowly and in small amounts.
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure takes about 30 minutes depending on the size of the treatment area.Depending on your skin, 2 to 6 treatments are recommended.
